I recently got a service call about Windows 8.x printer driver not being available for an individual's computer. There's nothing more frustrating than having the latest and greatest only to find out that your printer is obsolete for no particular reason!
So, here is the successful workaround that was implemented...
- Download the appropriate 32 or 64 bit driver for Win7.
- When the download is completed, click Open Folder.
- Right-click the file name, then click Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Click Change Settings for All Users.
- Check the box next to Run this Program in Compatibility Mode for:
- Using the drop-down menu select Windows 7.
- Click Apply, then click OK.
- Click OK.
- Right-click the driver file, then click Run as Administrator.
** The User Account Control window may appear, if so click Yes to start the installation and follow the prompts that appear to install the printer software and driver.
